Why Can't I see open applications when remote viewing a Mac? - 10.15 Catalina
MacOS 10.15 Catalina - Security and Privacy Change
Apple have implemented a new security feature called "Screen Recording" in the 10.15 (Catalina) release of MacOS due September 2019. The new feature will prevent applications such as Impero Workplace Pro from recording the contents of the screen unless our application has been granted permissons to do so.
Below is an image of the new security feature called "Screen Recording". ImperoClientTray must be added to allow Education Pro to show the true contents of the desktop from MacOS devices running 10.15
The setting can be found in Preferences->Security & Privacy->Privacy->Screen Recording
If ImperoClientTray is not added to the Screen Recording permissions list then when viewing a Mac via live thumbnails you will only see the desktop background and not any open applications.
In the image below we can see that the Mac has several windows open (left) but when we view the same Mac remotely with Impero (right), the desktop looks clear like no applications or windows are open.
