Running Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) for a dynamic classroom, means that each student device becomes a thin client which connects to a virtual desktop in the school data center.
By design, Vision Students are indexed by their IP address within a classroom.
In a pooled Virtual Machine (VM) VDI environment, the IP addresses are randomly assigned to VM images, therefore teachers are not able to identify students in the classroom.
In order for teachers to identify students running in such a dynamic classroom, school administrators have to add the key registry VDIDeviceId using the following command:
reg add HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Netop\Vision\6\Configuration /v VDIDeviceId /t REG_SZ /d "" /f
Read the complete description of the command parameters here.
