During a migration period from Netop School to Netop Vision or Netop Vision Pro (in the following just “Netop Vision”) schools might decide to run the two classroom management systems in parallel on teacher and student computers. This will allow teachers to gradually get used to Netop Vision while still being able to switch back to Netop School for reference. It will also ease the migration process as settings can be exported from the Netop School teacher module and imported into the Netop Vision teacher module; for details refer to the Migrator’s Guide on netop.com: http://www.netop.com/fileadmin/netop/resources/products/education/vision/manuals/NetopVisionSchoolToVisionMigratorsGuide_EN.pdf).
Netop School and Netop Vision can co-exist on the same computer without any issues: teacher modules and student modules alike.
When teachers feel at home in the Netop Vision teacher module and no longer need the Netop School teacher module, the Netop School teacher module can just be removed using uninstall from the Control Panel.
Note: Issue after uninstalling the Netop School student module on 64-bit systems
If the Netop School student module is not to be used and is removed from student computers, the uninstall process will have an unintentional impact on the Netop Vision student module already installed on the same computer: after the uninstall the Vision teacher module can no longer control web access on the student computer.
This is an issue on computers running a 64-bit version of Windows only. To check whether Windows is 32-bit or 64-bit: On the Start menu, click Computer and then click System Properties; the exact path varies according to operating system.
To fix the issue do the following on each student computer:
- Open a command prompt by typing cmd in the search field on Windows Start menu.
- Type the this command:
InstallLSP32.exe -i -t -x -n "Netop VisionLSP" -d " C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Netop\WebFilterLSP32.dll"
and press Enter.
- Then type this command:
InstallLSP64.exe -i -t -x -n "Netop VisionLSP" -d " C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Netop\WebFilterLSP64.dll"
and press Enter.
Now the support for web access control in Netop Vision which was accidentally removed by the Netop School student removal process has been re-installed.
