You use Pointer to annotate text or graphics during instruction. During class demonstrations, you can draw attention to areas of your screen using one of over 20 arrows, highlighters, and shapes. You can also zoom in and magnify any part of your screen or spotlight a particular object while the rest of the screen is dimmed.

System Requirements

Before you begin to install Pointer, verify that your computer meets the following system requirements:

  • OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows 98, Me, NT4, 2000 Professional, XP Professional, Vista, or Windows 7
  • PROCESSOR: 486/66 MHz processor
  • A valid serial number to activate Pointer. (You can install a 30-day evaluation version without a serial number.) 

Install Pointer

After you have verified that your computer meets the system requirements, you can begin to install Pointer.

Pointer is automatically installed with Vision6 version 6.7 and newer, so a separate installation of Pointer is not necessary.

  1. Log on to the computer as an administrator.
  2. Quit all programs.
  3. Quit all virus protection utilities or filters.
  4. Run the Pointer Setup program.
     Open the folder where you saved the Setup program, and then double-click Pointer2_XSetup.exe.
  5. Click Next to start the installation.
  6. Read and accept the licensing agreement.
  7. The wizard guides you through the Pointer installation. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  8. After you complete the installation, restart the computer and any virus protection utilities that you use.

About the Pointer Toolbars

The Pointer toolbars appear in a single window or menu bar and are divided into three sections.

DRAWING TOOLS

Use this toolbar to start the highlighter and pen tools, or add text boxes and frames to your screen.

VIEWING TOOLS

Use this toolbar bar when you want to spotlight.
